Rheumatoid arthritis occurs when the immune system of the human body
attacks and destroys the tissues that are responsible for making the
joints. As a result, the joints tend to become swollen, stiff, and
painful. As the disease become severe, the joints can look deformed and
take a bad shape. The disease can also effect a lot of other parts of
the body as well. These include your lungs, heart, blood vessels, and
eyes. According to the statistics, it has been shown that more than 1
percent of the U.S. population suffers from RA. The age group that is
most likely to get prone to this disease are people between 30 and 60,
but it can occur at any age.
