Leukemia is not a very general illness and the main thing is that the exact cause of leukemia has not been known yet. People who suffer from this disease catch infections very easily. These patients have lots of leukemia cells and at the same time have a reduced number of red and white blood cells.
They also have less platelets, which
help the blood to coagulate. The red cells are responsible for
carrying oxygen and the white ones fight off infection. When their
number decreases than the normal level and their place is taken by
leukemia cells, people tend to suffer from this disease. Some common
signs of leukemia are:
- Chills, extreme fever or you can
suffer from flu
- Repeated infections, regular bleeding from the
nose or gums
- You always feel tired. Fatigue is also a very
common symptom.
- Unexpected loss of weight. You don't feel like
eating
- Swollen lymph nodes . Pain in joints or bones are
symptoms of leukemia as well
- Paleness of skin, excessive
sweating, anemia
There are two forms of the disease:
If you are going through the acute form of leukemia, then will get to know very quickly about the disease as the symptoms will appear quickly and they will get worse in a very short period of time.
On the other hand, if you are suffering from chronic leukemia, then
you might not see any kinds of symptoms for a very long time.
Moreover, if you are having acute leukemia. then you will be
able to note a series of other symptoms as well. Because of the fact
that the leukemia cells accommodate in your spinal cord or brain, you
will experience symptoms like vomiting, frequent headaches, seizures,
confusion and loss of control over your muscles over a period of
time. These cells also pile up in the testicles, which cause extreme
swelling.
Apart from all these symptoms, your
central nervous system, as well as other parts of your body can be
affected by leukemia. The lungs, kidneys and your digestive tract are
are most affected by leukemia.
If you are having the chronic
type of leukemia, then these abnormal cells will pile up in some
parts of your body, which can be different parts which are affected
by acute leukemia. The skin, testicles, entire brain, and even your
eyes can be severely affected by leukemia.
