Stress can be the result of various things that go in your life. And it has direct affect on your mind. There can also be “hidden” stress, like many students have before graduating college such as their future career. Sometimes, even the changes for good things may also cause subconscious stress.
A dream interpretation book can sometimes help, because many nightmares are very symbolic. For example: snake nightmares, which don't imply that you are afraid of snakes, but snakes can represent your hidden dangers or fears that you have not dealt with or even noticed consciously. And if a familiar person appears in a dream when a snake bites the dreamer, it may be a warning that the person is dangerous, or may be such he shouldn't be trusted.
These things occur in dreams because your subconscious mind sees all the warning signs from the way a person acts, which your conscious mind hasn't picked up.
