Unlike all drugs side effects are not that common with Finasteride, especially after dosage is completed, the side effects die away. Therefore, to reduce the side effects that are experienced proper usage and care should be followed.
There is always the possibility of facing side effects, but most people tends to tolerate the drug quite well with the minimum of noticeable effects. In case, any side effects do happen, they are relatively minor, and can be easily managed by yourself or with some low-level medical care from your doctor.
Studies have shown that less than 1% of users report a degree of erectile dysfunction as a possible side effect. Although, it is a rare side effect from use of the drug, but it has a direct link to the hormone levels in human beings. Therefore, it is easy to view the changes after using Finasteride.
However, women should not use Finasteride. The FDA and other regulatory bodies have also banned this drug for women because it can cause birth defects. Reports show that the drug is so dangerous that any pregnant woman will not handle or be in any contact
with even broken Finasteride tablets. It is so potent that it can actually be absorbed through the skin.
Although, it has not been proven but even exposure to whole tablets is not recommended unless the tablet is swallowed. The drug is considered to pass into the semen of men. Even though, there is no known concern if the semen of a man who is taking Finasteride would come into contact with a woman.
Depression is another main side effects of the drug. Several reposts indicate that the drug may induce symptoms linked to depression. Therefore, it should not be prescribed to a patient who has high risk for depression. This only suggests that doctors should exercise proper caution with clients who are high risk for depression.
This drug has also been banned by many major sports associations. This is because the drug helps to mask the presence of steroids. Since 2005, Finasteride has been on the World Anti-Doping Agency's banned substance list.
Sex drive is the further reported side effects of this drug. Only less than 2% users, have reported this problem. Again, this is a very small amount of people, and puts the question of side effects into perspective.
