It is basically preformed with quick
and forceful contractions of the abdominal muscles to push the air out of the lungs. Start with a deep breath and a relaxed exhale to relax the diaphragm muscle, and gradually increase the speed. This technique brings in a lot of hot energy very quickly. It also allow for purification and cleansing of the energy channels.

Holding the Breath In

This technique allows the absorption of life energy in the breath. Holding the breath while performing certain poses activate the upper chakras (energy centers), which has this same benefit added to the energy of the pose.

Holding the Breathe Out

Holding the breath out require holding the breath after exhaling completely. It is one of the best ways to purify the energy channels, only if performed correctly. This technique drives the upward and downward flowing energy. If this technique is performed properly, the purification can be felt immediately.

However, pregnant women should never perform breathing techniques. Excessive breathing technique can prove to be too dangerous. Moreover, holding the breath technique is done at night can cause sleeplessness. But, if these techniques are done properly bring about a desired effect.
