Bacteria and viruses are two major pathogens or harmful microscopic organisms for body. They have similarities like ability to cause viral and bacterial infection in body. This applies more in case of viruses than bacteria. There are many differences between both the pathogens, which are as follows :

Physical Nature

Bacterium is one celled living organism with set of genetic codes called RNA and DNA. Virus on the other hand is considered to be non living because it is just a section of RNA or DNA strand that is covered by a protein shell. This gives different sizes to both virus and bacteria.

Method of Reproduction

Bacteria are asexual, and they reproduce by using themselves as a template. They split themselves into half and create two identical copies. The whole process is called mitosis.

Viruses reproduce when they live in a living host. They have ability to lay dormant for many years before clamping on a host. After getting inside a host, they replace the genetic code and create many copies.

Infection

there are different methods and treatments for bacterial and viral infections. The common bacterial infections are caused due to the invasion of a pathogenic bacteria in the digestive or respiratory tract. Your body will fight against these bacterias, if it has a weak immune system, you will probably be made to consume antibiotics.

In case of viral infections, a dormant virus gets into the living cell and rewrites its genetic codes. Anti virus are used to cure the patient. Prevention is the best way to overcome the risk of a viral infection. Usually a weakened strain of virus called serum is injected into the body. The antibodies present in the body fight against it and recognize the chemicals for future. If the same virus enters the body, it will be dealt quickly.
