The most common cancer which is also easily treatable is the basal cell carcinoma. Usually, there are simple procedures that can be followed in a doctor's office that are sufficient, but you can also take certain measures at home to prevent recurrences.
Antioxidants are considered to be the most important nutrient, which help in preventing basal cell carcinoma. Some of the nutrients which prevents the formation of this cancer are n-acetyl cysteine (NAC), selenium, and vitamins C and E. The NAC nutrient works along with vitamins C and E to protect the p53 gene that avoids continuous growth of damaged DNA. Nutrients like selenium and vitamin E help in the production of the "super-antioxidant" glutathione, and alpha-lipoic acid. The later antioxidant plays an important role especially for outdoor people.
However, people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
and smokers at times get a bad reaction to NAC. If your doctor advice you not to eat grapefruit, then you should also avoid vitamin C with bioflavonoid for the same reasons. Although, consuming "straight" vitamin C should be fine for you.
You need to consume mega dose. Even a little dose of 100 mg a day of alpha-lipoic acid or Vitamin C, every day can help protect the skin. If you're consuming mega dose of alpha-lipoic acid daily, then make sure you're getting biotin, either from a complete B vitamin supplement or biotin capsules.
Besides, these supplements there are other ways to prevent basal carcinoma. Such as applying sunscreen on sun-exposed skin in the summer. Nowadays, many doctors advice their patients to use a stronger sun screen any time of year. Never rub the affected area as you will have inflamed, itchy, bleeding skin. Most importantly, consult a doctor every six months, if you ever had basal cell carcinomas.
