If you are an athlete, or some one who deals with extreme sports, then I am sure that you must have faced some kind of problem related with shoulder injury at some point or the other. Even if you have not, the chances are that you might face these problems as shoulder problems are quiet common.
But that does not mean that you should take them lightly. It has been generally seen that complaints of shoulder pain stem from problems with the bones and the rotator cuff, it may also start from a group of muscles, ligaments and tendons that surround and help protect the bones. No matter what it is, a shoulder problem is after all a shoulder problem.
It can take a very severe case if not treated in an apt manner. The fact is that the rotator cuff keeps the shoulder's ball and socket joint in place, and in any case, when it becomes injured, then it should be treated seriously. And when it happens, the full shoulder functioning needed for your normal work or sports activities can becomes daunting tasks to its extremes.
It is also important for all of you to know that the rotator cuff plays a very important role in helping you reach, throw, push, pull and lift. And if that becomes injured, then there are chances that your shoulder would lose more than half its motion and strength.
Another reason that causes extreme pain in shoulders is due to the presence of arthritis. It happens due to the wear and tear of the cartilage surface.
Avoid the following:
- My first tip is that you must avoid repetitive overhead activities. And if you have just overcome your shoulder injury, then it is recommended that you should not even think about overhead activities. And if it is your helplessness that you should get involved in repetitive overhead movements, then atleast make sure that you take some amount of breaks in between.
- My next tip is that a person who feels some kind pain or shoulder injury should avoid doing too much too soon. Also if you are planning to do some kind of overhead activity you haven't done for a long time, then make sure that you don't over do anything. Just move gradually from one step to another! Exercises to strengthen the muscles as this will weaken the injury!
