In many cases, being lonely has a great impact on the health of older people. The feeling of loneliness affect their health so intensely, but others around them can not realize it! According to studies, as long as older people remain active and enjoy a relatively active social life, they are less prone to germs, as well as their affects. Having a great social life and being around with people can help them live long. Yes, this is true, it can improve the health of the average senior!

It may sound ridiculous, but it's true that you can have a strong immune system, just by having positive relationships with others. This also helps one in eliminating stress. And stress is also major concern of human health. Lonely people do not worry that much about their health, as compared to those people who do have a good friend circle or a healthy social life. The feeling of being loved and wanted have a great positive impact on one's health, irrespective of age! If there are not people around, in such a case, having a pet to care or a garden can help a lot!

In case of seniors or older people, happy relationships, or a happy and lengthy marriage works as a medicine for their health. Apart, friendships or contact with good friends have also the same medicinal value. In other words, what right kind of food and exercises do for your health, relationships do the same! Thus, just like the wrong food and lack of exercise have bad effects on your health, so have unhappy relationships.

Studies say that people without relationships or who are unmarried tend to suffer from higher levels of stress, rates of death, and need increased usage of the healthcare system, as compared to those with happy relationships or that are married.

But, this is not always possible for many older people being with their partners, since they lost their husband or wife. However, they can be benefited from healthy and happy relationships with their friends instead. Many older people may not find this option suitable fro them, thus in such a case, they can even get a pet! There are many organizations that offer pets to older people, since it has been proven that this companionship alone can increase the health and decrease the loneliness in a person.
