Let us have a look at basic medical expense insurance and discuss some of the vital points on it
As far as basic medical expense policies are concerned, let me tell you that they only provide for medical expenses that result from accidents and sickness. Nothing is fixed as “basic medical expenses” is a loose term that refers to various medical, hospital and surgical benefits.

Let us have a look at basic medical expense insurance and discuss some of the vital points on it:
  • As far as basic medical expense policies are concerned, let me tell you that they only provide for medical expenses that result from accidents and sickness. Nothing is fixed as “basic medical expenses” is a loose term that refers to various medical, hospital and surgical benefits.
  • But when we specifically talk about the broad categories of medical expense coverage, then they are not lode terms in them selves as they offer a wide range of benefits for hospital, surgical and medical care. They are also geared up with loads of other advantages as well, such as private nurses, convalescent care, and more. The expenses are different!
  • But at the same time you must know that policies may be written in such a way that they may be limited to only one or two types of coverage for example hospital cost or may be some other miscellaneous medical costs or surgical expenses or what so ever. All these things are written in the policy. These are known as basic plans.
  • Other, policies have their own systems and requirements. Some of them are more broadly written, but a lot of policies may cover all expenses resulting from accident or illness, but in all the cases, there are certain exceptions as every company ha their own set of rules and regulations.
  • A majority of medical plans include fee-for-service. In this case the doctors as well as other providers receive a payment that is not more than their billed charge for service provided.
Now let us have a look at individual versus group coverage:
  • It does not matter as to what kind of policy is written, narrowly or broadly, it is a fact that medical expense insurance is designed to reimburse for the cost of care no matter whether it happens from any kind of injury or illness.
  • Consumers can avail both kinds of policies: whether it is individual group policies. In general case, it has been seen that individual policies are more costly and at the same time they also have limited benefits but generally speaking, both types cover the same medical services.
