Simple Tips to Prevent and Cure Urinary Tract Infections
You will probably be surprised to know that urinary tract infections (UTI) account for more than seven million doctor visits every year. Embarrassing, though it may be, if ignored UTI can take a very ugly turn. A UTI in its early stage is not very dangerous. Complications, however, are bound to occur if you are unable to get rid of it on your own. You must not fail to treat this infection promptly and appropriately. A UTI, if not taken care of properly threatens to quickly spread into and infect the kidneys. As we all know that kidney infections are a grave issue and might land the sufferer into a septic shock resulting from such an infection.

UTI's are more common amongst women and occur most often when they are of childbearing age, although they are not uncommon in men or children.

The type of bacteria that affects the urinary tract most is E. coli or staph. This bacteria has the capacity to live in one's bladder itself. A UTI is born when a lot of this bacteria accumulates coupled with a pooling of urine. UTI occurs more often in women because of these reasons:

1.Incorrect wiping after a bowel movement.
2. Incorrect wiping after urinating.
3.Not clearing the bladder right after sex can accentuate the level of bacteria, thus, increasing the risk of developing a UTI.
4.Forcefully controlling urinating for a long time despite feeling the urge to go.

The infected person can cure a simple UTI on their own, as soon as symptoms start showing by diluting the urine that is in the bladder. This can be done by simply flushing the bladder out with water. Antibiotics come into play when the patient is unable to clear the infection on their own in a day or two. In addition to antibiotics analgesics can also be used for over the counter relief. 'Unistat' and 'Azo-Standard', can be administered to help subside the pain, burning, and the urgency to urinate until the antibiotics begin have an impact.

Checking a few daily habits can substantially lower the risk of developing a UTI. The best prevention tool by far is to keep yourself adequately hydrated by intake of plenty of water. Drinks with good amounts of caffeine, like, coffee, tea, soda, and alcohol tend to dehydrate the body, forcing more water out of you. If you are used to drinking a lot of such drinks, habituate yourself to replace them with more water.

There is also a pool of herbs with healing effects, like, akebia, saw palmetto, sarsaparilla, and fruits such as cranberries, watermelon, and blueberries that have worked wonders for many people with regard to treating this particular infection.

The simplest and safest technique of all in order to lead a UTI free life is to flush the bacteria out of the bladder with water.
