Mesothelioma is one of the rare forms of cancer. It is a fact that each year around more than three thousands people are diagnosed and it is expected that the number would increase with the passage of time.  There main cause of Mesotheliom is exposure to Asbestos.

Asbestos is a kind of fibrous mineral, which is known for its durability, immense quality of fire resistance as well as insulating properties. It was majorly used in a broad manner specially in the commencement of the twentieth century. A lot of products like concrete, textiles and insulation were manufactured with the substance at a huge level. Mesotheliom, the cancer that is caused by this mineral, have the power to corrupt the membranes that cover the lungs, abdominal cavity and internal organs of the human body.

There are three main types of this cancer that are known to scientists. The most common of them all is known as the pleural mesothelioma. People suffer from this type of cancer when asbestos fibers invade the cells of the membrane and that results in the coverage of lungs, known as the pleura.

The second type of cancer that is most common amongst the patients is peritoneal mesothelioma. It is responsible for attacking the peritoneum, or membrane that covers  the abdominal organs. The third and one of the rarest types of Mesotheliom Cancer is known as pericardial mesothelioma, which attacks the membrane covering the heart, or the pericardium.

Treatment for this type of cancer have less chances of being successful as all the three types are fast growing, and the fact is that the cancer is not normally diagnosed until the later stages of the disease. After that the chances of patient survival is poor. Treatments include surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy is applied in such cases. Doctors are also recommending traditional aspects like Yoga and Prayanam for the purpose.
