Dementia is a loss of brain function, and here are a few initial symptoms of the disease:
  • Memory loss- Declining short term memory is one of the most referred and commonly observed symptom of the Dementia. The person who suffers from this disease tends to forget the specifics and context of the certain situation.
  • Difficulty in Performing Familiar Daily Tasks- there is a possibility that the person who suffers from Dementia, can have difficulty in performing his daily tasks, such as putting on clothes. It is often observed that such patients forget the right order as to how to dress up for any event.
  • Disorientation to Time and Space- a Dementia patient may often confuse familiar places and the time of the day. He may also get confused
    with the occurrence of night and day.
  • Poor Judgment- The patient who suffers from Dementia, is likely to have problems in solving normal day to day problems. For example, on a cold day, he may put on just a shirt and shorts and go out for work, without thinking the fact that he should wear woolens!
  • Problems Keeping an Order of Things- A Dementia patient may have several problems where they can not keep a track of things and face dilemma in keeping up with routine bills. They may forget to pay bills and many such things.
  • Changes In Personality- The patient may look different from his or her self, because of his/her different expressions of emotions. Such a patient also indulges in suspicion.
  • Loss of Initiative- The person who suffers from Dementia, may become passive.
